Sacraments of Initiation
As you may have heard, Archbishop Aquila is restoring the sacraments of initiation to their original order in the Archdiocese of Denver. In the coming years, the sacrament of Confirmation will ordinarily be received in third grade during the same liturgy as First Holy Communion. While we know—indeed, we hope—that these changes will raise questions for many, we have great confidence that the answers to those questions will help to deepen and enrich your own experience of the sacraments.
Please join the archbishop in praying for a greater outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit across our archdiocese and beyond.
The archbishop wants every Catholic in the archdiocese to understand the pastoral reasons for this decision. Everyone is invited to visit the webpage archden.org/saints, where you will find:
-
the archbishop’s pastoral letter, “Saints Among Us,” in Spanish and English, (After May 24)
-
answers to frequently asked questions regarding the upcoming changes,
-
videos explaining the restored order,
-
an invitation to participate in a live Q&A phone call with Archbishop Aquila,
-
and a video explaining the letter. (After May 24)
Please join the archbishop in praying for a greater outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit across our archdiocese and beyond.

Through Baptism we joyfully welcome new members into the community of Faith. Baptism is a true sacrament instituted by Christ. Baptism effects the remission of original sin, confers sanctifying grace, membership in Christ's priesthood and in the Church giving an indelible character or seal. Because of the indelible character, baptism cannot be repeated.
There is a one time preparation class required to give the parents and godparents a better understanding of the sacrament and the ceremonies surrounding it. If you would like to have your child baptized please contact the Church office.
